#ConfabNE: Should residents be fined for not wearing a face mask in public? Here’s what you said

Seacoast Media Group

Last week, the #ConfabNE question asked New Englanders if they think people should be fined for not wearing a face covering or mask when in public places. Executive orders requiring face masks be worn when in public places went into effect May 6 in Massachusetts and May 8 in Rhode Island.

Under the Massachusetts order, businesses can decline entry to customers who refuse to wear a face cover and those who violate it can face a fine of up to $300.

Here’s what you said.

Yes, because if you don’t wear a mask, you are harming others. I’m sorry to say this but if you refuse, deal with it, because I and everyone else really don’t want any more people to get sick, die or end up being in critical or serious condition. You are causing lives to be lost and harmed by not wearing masks. It can make you more sweaty, I get it but it will solve problems. Some people don’t know if they are carrying the germ and they don’t realize it. It is also a way to prevent further problems later on and a great way to help get the economy going. I seriously don’t want any lives to get lost, so yes people should get fined for not wearing masks.

Yes, people should be fined for not wearing a face mask. As well as refused entry to a business.

A fine would just make things worse. What happened to home of the free and land of the brave? I realize this virus is serious but what’s next we all will be put in a Jail. We are not all rich and live in huge estates like the politicians do. I feel they say “do as I say, not as I do.” Everybody should get honest and help each other. Do not judge a person until you walk a mile in their shoes.
