We're Hiring!

THE GRANITE STATE NEWS COLLABORATIVE is looking for freelance investigative journalists for several upcoming projects.

Currently we are working on reporting projects related to our multi-year exploration of race and equity in New Hampshire. Our focus areas include access to economic opportunity, affordable housing, policing and criminal justice, access to civic engagement, environmental justice, equity in education and health equity.

Depending on the project, our reporters either work directly with editors from partner publications or with The Collaborative director.

The Granite State News Collaborative is an award-winning collective of more than 20 local media, education and community partners working together to produce and share news stories on the issues that most impact our state. The hope is that by working together we can provide more information to more communities across New Hampshire than we could individually.

We do this by sharing partner-generated news, coordinating coverage on statewide events and issues and co-producing project-based series and stories.

We encourage and welcome reporters of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.

The ideal candidate should: have a minimum of three years of reporting experience (the more experience the better); be comfortable producing investigative, accountability or explanatory projects; be able to work collaboratively; and have strong writing and research skills.

Fluency in more than one language and/or multimedia experience are definitely pluses.

Though we are based in New Hampshire we will consider reporters based in neighbor states. Pay is competitive.

More than anything, we are looking for candidates who love investigative, in-depth and enterprise reporting and who see it for the public service that it is. If this is you, send a cover letter, resume and clips to GSNC Director, melanie.plenda@collaborativenh.org.
